Ethio Impact Consulting Plc is looking for a Fiber Optics Technician on behalf of a Private
Company.
A fiber optics technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks. This includes the handling of fiber optic cables, connectors, and related equipment. The technician ensures that high-speed data transmission is optimized and that the infrastructure supports the required communication systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install and terminate fiber optic cables, splicing, and testing fiber optics systems.
- Install fiber optic patch panels, enclosures, and other network components.
- Ensure all work is done in compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
- Set up and configure network systems related to fiber optics, ensuring maximum performance and efficiency.
- Use OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer), light meters, and other fiber optic testing tools to troubleshoot fiber systems.
- Identify faults, such as damaged cables or misalignments, and carry out repairs.
- Perform regular maintenance checks on fiber optic systems to ensure they are functioning optimally.
- Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs, including schematics and system changes.
- Keep logs of fiber optic network status and performance.
Requirements
- Electrical engineer 3 years experience.
- Experience in fiber optic installation and troubleshooting .
- Experience with fiber optic testing tools (OTDR, light meters, etc.) is highly preferred.
