Ethio Impact Consulting Plc is looking for a Corporate Corporate Agro – Business Department Director on behalf of a Private company
The Director, under the overall leadership of the DMD for Business Operations of the Company, is
responsible for the overall leadership, management and supervision of the Agro • Business initiatives of the
Company. His/ her duties and responsibilities may include establishing and maintaining Agro- Business
policies and procedures, directs the execution of the same. Technically, the department director supervises
Coffee processing unit (Kality); Godere Plantation; and the Oil seeds farms in regions (Jawi, Qota, etc.).
Supervises the company Farm/Plantation Managers, Senior Agronomist, and Corporate Senior Operations
Officers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, manages, coordinates & directs the company’s agricultural development and agroprocessing
functions throughout the country.
Oversees and ensures the timely development of operational plans of the farms and agroprocessing
units.
Initiates the need for and designs framework of relevant agricultural development policies,
strategies, and guidelines after approval from the company’s top management.
Oversees and ensures core operational functions such as planting/seeding, weeding, collecting, and
quality inspection in the plantations/farms and agro-processing units.
Provides technical specifications for the purchase of raw materials (seeds, pesticides, fertilizer, etc.);
machinery, and spares as well as participates in the purchasing decisions.
Ensures the planning, assignment, and proper utilization of the relevant operational resources &
services (personnel, material, equipment, etc.) on all plantations/farms and agro-processing units.
Ensures that operational policies, guidelines and procedures are strictly adhered at all farms and agroprocessing
units.
Ensures that the plantations/farms and agro-processing units’ operational targets are met.
Draws up the quarterly and monthly production plan & program (schedule, quantity, & types) with
inputs from the marketing department regarding customer order (foreign & domestic) or sales
plan/forecast.
Oversees & ensures the agricultural operations are smooth & up to the schedule.
Monitors the operational performance of all plantations/farms and agro-processing units of the
company in terms of productivity, efficiency, quality, etc.
Oversees installation of efficient and up-to-date systems in all plantations/farms and agro-processing
units of the company.
Follows up proper inspection, maintenance, and repair of agricultural machinery, equipment, etc., in all
plantations/farms and agro-processing units of the company.
Ensures safety in all plantations/farms and agro-processing units of the company by implementing
safety policies & procedures of the company.
Develops strategies for reducing, production costs, maintenance costs & other related costs in all plantations/farms and agro-processing units in collaboration with responsible bodies.
Ensures the maintenance materials & spare parts are procured as per technical specifications & available when required.
Generates periodic reports about its performance and presents to the DMD.
Performs other duties as assigned by the DMD & other top-level managers of the company.
REQUIREMENTS
MSC/BSC in Agriculture, Plant Science, Agro-Economics or related fields.
8/10years’ experience out of which 3/4 years should be in managerial position(s). Experience in
managing Agro – Businesses, and etc. in large corporate entities with industrial, agricultural, mining and
construction sector involvement is advantageous. Extensive knowledge and experience in preparing
Agro – Business manuals, systems, policies and standards is a benefit.
Desirable training Agro – Business Management tools, software, PPC, etc.
