Cost Accountant

Job Description

The Cost Accountant is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling product costs, inventory valuation, gross profit margins, and operational expenses within the hypermarket. The role ensures accurate cost accounting records, supports pricing decisions, and provides management with timely financial information to improve profitability and cost efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Calculate and maintain accurate product costs for all merchandise categories.
• Monitor purchase costs, freight costs, and other direct expenses affecting product pricing.
• Analyze cost variances and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and profitability analyses.
• Review and monitor gross profit margins by product category, department, and supplier.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or retail/hypermarket finance operations.
• Experience in supermarkets, hypermarkets, retail chains, or FMCG environments is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory valuation methods.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of financial reporting and budgeting.
