Job Description

The Senior Operations Officer is responsible for the full-cycle management, supervision, and control of import and export shipments to ensure efficient, compliant, cost-effective, and high-quality service delivery in alignment with company SLAs and FIDI standards.

The role provides supervision in shipment coordination, documentation governance, cost control, KPI monitoring, and service provider performance management. The Senior Operations Officer acts as a key link between clients, agents, customs authorities, transport providers, and internal departments, ensuring operational excellence, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

This is a full-time on-site role based in Addis Ababa for a Senior Operations Officer. The individual in this role will oversee day-to-day operations management, coordinate with clients for their moving needs, handle the finance aspects of the operations, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities will include managing staff, resolving operational issues, maintaining records, and communicating effectively with clients and stakeholders.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • KPI tracking daily and weekly bases
  • Cost control responsibility for import and export shipments
  • SLA monitoring with service providers for each service.
  • Performance improvement suggestions and training junior staff
  • Supervise and closely monitor all import and export shipments from booking through final delivery.
  • Ensure proactive resolution of delays, clearance challenges, routing issues, and service disruptions.
  • Coordinate effectively with customs clearing agents in Ethiopia and Djibouti to guarantee smooth and timely declarations.

Requirments

  • Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or /and related fields with 2-3 years
  • Good communication skills; good understanding of customer needs and customer handling techniques, and Ethiopian Customs regulations and procedures;
  • Proficiency in a foreign language is an advantage
  • Certificate of training on communication skills, customer handling techniques, and Ethiopian Customs regulations and procedures
