Job Description
The Finance Manager (Head of Finance) is responsible for leading the finance department and ensuring strong financial control across the organization. They oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning to align resources with strategic goals. The role requires compliance with Ethiopian financial regulations and international reporting standards such as IFRS or GAAP. This leader provides financial insights and reports to senior management and the board to guide decision-making. They manage cash flow, risk, and stakeholder relationships with auditors, banks, and regulators. Ultimately, the Finance Manager drives efficiency, accountability, and sustainable growth through effective financial leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial health of the organization by managing financial operations and budgeting.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Supervise and lead a team of finance professionals, including accountants and analysts.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data, provide insights, and make recommendations to senior management.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk.
- Coordinate and lead internal and external audits.
- Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and external stakeholders.
- Provide strategic financial planning and forecasting to support business decisions.
- Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and ensure compliance.
Requirments
- Education: Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional Certification: CPA, ACCA, or CFA strongly preferred; MBA in Finance or Strategic Management is an added advantage.
- Experience: 7–10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 4 years in a senior managerial or leadership role.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial software systems and Microsoft Excel for modeling and analysis.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Ethiopian financial regulations, compliance requirements, and international reporting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with proven ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
- Analytical Ability: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills with a strategic mindset.
- Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with executives, boards, auditors, and regulators.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Plus Point: Prior experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is highly advantageous.
