This role oversees both the central workshop and field maintenance operations across project sites. - Serve as the highest technical authority for troubleshooting complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic faults in heavy equipment.
- Evaluate major breakdowns and determine the most technically sound and cost-effective repair methodologies.
- Develop, implement, and enforce a strict Preventive Maintenance schedule based on manufacturer recommendations (e.g., engine hours, mileage).
- Plan and schedule major overhauls, component rebuilds, and annual inspections to ensure they cause minimal disruption to active project schedules.
- Monitor equipment utilization and condition reports to transition from reactive (breakdown) maintenance to proactive (predictive) maintenance.
- Manage, mentor, and evaluate the performance of the maintenance team, including workshop supervisors, heavy-duty mechanics, auto-electricians, welders, and lubrication technicians.
- Organize daily task allocations for both central workshop repairs and field service mechanics deployed to remote project sites.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and coordinate technical training, especially on new machinery models or advanced diagnostic software.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date maintenance records, including service histories, repair logs, and fuel consumption reports.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or advanced tracking tools to generate monthly fleet performance and cost-per-hour reports for management.
