Job Description

Ethio Impact Consulting PLC is seeking a Factory Manager on behalf of a Furniture Manufacturing company.

The Factory Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of our office and home furniture manufacturing facility. This position oversees all aspects of production, including machinery, manpower, Quality control, and safety, purchasing and material management, Human capital & general service, and finance management. The Factory Manager is responsible for meeting production targets, maintaining high-quality standards, and maximizing operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in business unit strategy meetings, develop Factory objectives and targets aligned with the overall business unit plan, and cascade these goals to their team, ensuring everyone is working towards achieving them.
  • Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer orders and delivery deadlines.
  • Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to understand production requirements and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Optimize production flow to minimize bottlenecks and maximize efficiency.
  • Oversee the procurement of raw materials to ensure timely availability for production.
  • Develop a production plan that optimizes output for both monthly and annual periods, considering machinery limitations and performance, Workforce availability and effectiveness and Consistent raw material supply.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to extend machinery life and minimize repair costs.
  • Stay informed of new technologies and equipment that can improve production efficiency and quality.
  • Lead and motivate ateam of production employees, including supervisors, machine operators, and quality control personnel.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge related to production processes, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all factory personnel by adhering to safety regulations and protocols.
  • Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and implement performance improvement measures as needed.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure all furniture products meet established specifications and customer requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of raw materials, work in progress, and finished products to identify and address quality issues.
  • Work with production teams to continuously improve product quality standards.
  • Monitor progress towards departmental targets and take corrective actions as needed to stay on track.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction to enhance factory efficiency and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate production records and reports.
  • Develop and implement cost-control measures to optimize resource allocation and minimize production costs.
  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to ensure efficient production and customer satisfaction.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years experience and at least 8 years out of 10 on managerial role. (preferably in furniture manufacturing)
