Job Description

The Senior Accountant at SilAfrica-Ethiopia Industry PLC SEI PLC plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial activities of the organization. The Senior Accounts also is responsible for providing accounts & finance related services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. The Senior Accounts Officer must comply with established accounting policies and procedures. full-time position, suitable for professionals with 4-6 years of experience, involves ensuring compliance with accounting principles such as GAAP and IFRS. The role is office-based in Addis Ababa , Kality wuhalimat and focuses on delivering accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and account management to support strategic decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all accounting entries made are accurate and financial reporting is up to date
  • Preparation and monitoring of the payroll system
  • Processing and monitoring of payments and expenditures
  • Ensuring that staffs are paid in a timely and appropriate manner and that vendor and suppliers are paid within established time limits.
  • Oversee Accounts & Finance related activities
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Manage the budgeting process and provide insights on financial performance against budget.
  • Oversee account management functions, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Coordinate and lead month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends and make recommendations.
  • Support the finance team in the implementation of ERP systems /Syspro/ and processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making.
  • Fully responsible for maintaining all statutory compliance for the organization with respect to VAT, W.Tax, Income Tax, Pension as required by local tax authorities.
  • Preparation and coordination with FM for the Financial/Statutory audit process
  • Physical stock counting of all items on a monthly basis and stock reconciliation of book stock with the physical stock
  • Maintenance of Fixed Assets Register & Depreciation schedules. Oversee the Equipment/Asset register is completed and kept on file

Requirements

  • Minimum BA Degree in Accounting. Minimum working experience of 4 years in a manufacturing unit as a Senior Accounts/ Accountant
  • Demonstrate proficiency in accounting principles, including GAAP and IFRS.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes effectively.
  • Utilize ERP systems for financial reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and implement budgeting processes and strategies.
  • Analyze financial data to support strategic decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports for management review.
  • Facilitate audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Monitor financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Adopt best practices in financial management and reporting.
  • Foster teamwork by collaborating effectively with colleagues across departments.
