Job Description

A Senior Legal Associate is an important role in a law office, and the position holder is a key
member of the legal team, responsible for providing expert advice and representation to clients,
managing cases, and collaborating with partners and other staff to ensure the smooth operation of
the law office’s legal practice.
This is an exciting and demanding opportunity for a talented lawyer to work on high-profile
client engagements.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Legal Associate manages and executes projects, advises on business development, and provides expert legal guidance to clients. The key responsibilities include, but are not limited
to:

  • Providing expert legal advice and counsel to clients across various practice areas.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents with accuracy and precision, ensuring
    adherence to legal requirements and client objectives;
  •  Conducting legal research and analysis to support client matters and develop effective
    legal solutions;
  • Advising on personnel issues and drafting documents related to those issues;
  •  Preparing and maintaining standard agreements, such as employment contract;
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail;
  •  Team player and efficient multitasker with an assertive, independent, and can-do attitude;
  • Examining legal issues and providing practical advice in a timely manner;
  • Managing calendars, scheduling trial dates and hearings;
  • Managing client relationships, building strong communication and trust with sensitivity
    and confidentiality;
  • Preparing for and attend client meetings, presentations, and negotiations;
  • Conducting due diligence investigations and gather relevant information for client
    projects.
  • Representing the law office and manage cases; and
  • Handling court filings, assist in court litigations, liaise with government agencies, and
    perform other related legal tasks as needed.

Job requirement

  •  LL.B. degree from a recognized university;
  • LL.M. degree is preferable but not mandatory;
  • 3–5 years of proven legal experience in a reputable legal firm or company; Strong expertise in contract drafting, legal research, and document preparation.
  •  Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines;
  • Detail oriented and ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficient in English and Amharic (both oral and written);
  • Proficient in computer skills;
  •  Professional and ethical demeanor with a commitment to client confidentiality;
  • Experience in corporate law, commercial transactions, and dispute resolution is a plus;
    and
  • Interest in and knowledge of legal developments in Ethiopia and the wider African
    continent.
