Finance Section Head
Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical, strategic, and experienced Finance Section Head to lead our finance and accounting operations. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and statutory compliance. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial data, optimizing production/project costs, strengthening internal controls, and providing actionable financial insights to support executive decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the finance and accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in strict compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulations.
- Manage the General Ledger, ensuring all journal entries, accruals, and prepayments are accurately recorded and justified.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and develop rolling financial forecasts in collaboration with department heads.
- Perform detailed variance analysis (actual vs. budget) and present clear, actionable reports to senior management to drive cost-saving initiatives and profitability.
- Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues (MoR) regulations, including the accurate and timely filing of VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax, fringe benefit tax, and annual corporate income tax declarations.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax authorities during audits and inspections.
- Develop, implement, and enforce robust financial policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Requirements
- BA or BSc degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
- A Master’s degree (MBA or MA in Accounting/Finance) or professional certification is highly preferred.
- 6 to 8 years of progressive, hands-on experience in finance and accounting.
- Must have at least 3 to 4 years in a supervisory or leadership role specifically within a manufacturing, agro-processing, or real estate/construction company.
