Job Description

This position is pivotal in ensuring the superior quality of all products and services in our coffee shops. The Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, ensuring staff are expertly trained in all items sold and customer service, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. A passion for coffee culture and a commitment to excellence are essential for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coffee Expertise & Quality Assurance: Oversee all aspects of F&B preparation and presentation, ensuring each items meets our high-quality standards. Regularly conduct tastings to ensure quality and train staff accordingly to Moyee standards.
  • Staff Training & Development: Lead comprehensive training programs for new and existing staff focusing on F&B knowledge, customer service excellence, and operational efficiency.
  • Encourage and facilitate ongoing education in coffee trends and sustainability practices.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure the coffee shop operates smoothly on a daily basis, maintaining consistency across all locations. Implement and oversee systems to manage inventory, staffing, and customer service that can scale with our growth.
  • Innovation & Menu Development: Collaborate with the management team to develop innovative F&B items, keeping up with industry trends and customer preferences.
  • Brand Ambassador: Act as a brand ambassador, embodying our values of excellence, sustainability, and community. Ensure that every customer interaction reflects our brand’s commitment to quality and service.
  • Compliance & Safety: Adhere to local health and safety regulations, ensuring all staff are trained on safety practices and compliance requirements. Maintain a clean, safe environment for customers and staff.
  • Inventory Oversight: Conduct regular inventory checks to monitor stock levels of all F&B ingredients, equipment, and other necessary supplies. Ensure inventory levels are kept in balance with the demand, avoiding both shortages and excessive surplus.
  • Ordering and Procurement: Responsible for the timely ordering of all consumables to ensure the continuous operation of the coffee shop.
  • Receiving and Quality Checks: Oversee the receiving process for all incoming goods, verifying quantities, and checking the quality of products received. Ensure that all deliveries match the purchase orders and any discrepancies are promptly addressed with the supplier.
  • Stock Rotation and Waste Minimization: Implement and manage an efficient stock rotation system to minimize waste and ensure the freshness of coffee and food items. Train staff on proper handling and storage methods to maintain product quality.
  • Inventory Records and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory, orders, and receipts. When asked, generate regular reports on inventory levels, consumption rates, and procurement costs to assist in budgeting and operational planning.
  • Product Quality Standards: Develop and enforce strict quality standards for all coffee and menu items served. Ensure every product delivered to customers meets these standards for taste, presentation, and freshness.
  • Customer Feedback and Continuous Improvement: Actively solicit feedback from customers regarding the quality of coffee and food items. Use this feedback to make continuous improvements to product quality and service standards.
  • Staff Training on Quality Assurance: Train all staff on quality assurance procedures, including the proper preparation and presentation of coffee and food items. Conduct regular quality assurance training sessions to keep staff updated on new standards and practices.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Calibration: Ensure all coffee brewing and food preparation equipment is regularly maintained and calibrated for optimal performance. Schedule and oversee routine maintenance and servicing of equipment to prevent downtime and ensure consistent product quality.

Requirement

  • Proven experience as a coffee shop supervisor or similar role, with a strong foundation in coffee preparation and service.
  • Certifications from recognized coffee institutions (e.g., Specialty Coffee Association) preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, training, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Ethiopian coffee market and consumer preferences is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexibly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
