Job Description
The Accountant is responsible for bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax compliance, and assisting with month-end closing processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a dynamic organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Recording and posting daily financial transactions accurately in the accounting system
- Preparing and processing supplier payments, staff advances, expense reimbursements, and petty cash disbursements
- Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate cash records
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers
- Calculating and preparing monthly VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory submissions to ERCA
- Assisting in month-end and year-end closing activities
- Preparing preliminary financial statements and supporting schedules for management review
- Maintaining organized physical and digital filing systems for invoices, receipts, and financial documents
- Supporting internal and external audit processes by providing requested documentation
- Ensuring compliance with company financial policies and Ethiopian accounting standards
- Performing ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management
Requirments
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of hands-on accounting experience
- Practical experience with Ethiopian tax regulations and ERCA compliance
- Familiarity with accounting software (Peachtree or similar)
