Wondwosen recommends and implement policies, procedures, SOPs related to HR activities of the Skylight hotel; Responsible for the implementation of HR functional strategies as indicated in the Human Capital Management strategy of Ethiopian Group in respective of SKYLIGHT HOTEL; manage and ensure effective implementation of talent management to ensure all positions are filled by qualified candidates, talents are at right job at the right time; Plans short and long-term human resources requirement of SKYLIGHT HOTEL in collaboration with directors/Managers of SKYLIGHT HOTEL; Create and sustain high performance and learning organization (HPLO) through implementation of Balanced Scorecard as performance and strategic management system, ensure the Hotel leadership continuity through effective succession planning and mentoring program at all level in SKYLIGHT HOTEL; ensure leadership development, career development, recurrent and regulatory requirement training are delivered as per the HOTEL schedule in coordination with all concerned, involve in the training need assessment (TNA); Ensure job design follows the principle of job enrichment, job rotation, job enlargement to induce motivation of employee; manage and conduct continuous job audit to ensure effectiveness of all HR process, policies, procedures and enhance employee productivity through effective manpower allocation; keep and maintain employee profile of SKYLIGHT HOTEL; fill vacancies from internal/external sources; manage employee promotion, demotion, transfer, appointment, resignation, discharge, retirement, termination, service recognition awards etc; Ensure the smooth industrial relations is maintained through fostering fruitful and productive relationship among SKYLIGHT HOTEL’s Management and employees. Ensures the smooth operation of Staff Canteen and Monitor Nurses who provides first aid treatments to staffs and guests. Prepares and monitors the annual HR/Traning/Staff Canteen/Nurses budgets.
Wondwosen, as Team Leader Personnel, has designed and implement policies, procedures, SOPs related to HR activities of the Skylight hotel; facilitate the implementation of 2030 HR functional strategies of the HOTEL; managed effective implementation of talent management and ensures all positions are filled by qualified candidates: talents are at right job at the right time; designs short and long-term human resources requirement plan of the HOTEL in collaboration with directors/Managers of the HOTEL; acts as a project Team Leader while inaugural of 2021-22 Balanced Scorecard as performance and strategic management system implementation in the Hotel, ensure Hotel leadership, career development, recurrent, regulatory requirement training, and development are delivered as per the HOTEL A schedule in coordination with corporate HRM, involve in the training need assessment (TNA); fill vacancies from internal source and coordinate with Recruitment & Placement for external announcements to fill timely vacancies; manage employee promotion, demotion, transfer, appointment, resignation, discharge, retirement, termination, service recognition, awards etc.
Wondwosen, as Sr. HR Specialist/Expert, designed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for handling major HRM activities and developed Checklist for Job Audit/Analysis and HR Planning; Coordinates, Coached & closely Supervised all HR Officers up on conducting different job audit/analysis and preparing monthly, Quarterly & long-range HR Planning of the Airline; provides Training on HRM for all Corporate & Divisional HR, selected Users Sections & Management Staffs and also for external parties; design flexible HR Report format that has been used as blue print for automation & deliver periodical report to internal and external users; monitors & provides close support for User Section Managers while preparing Employees Target & Assessing their Performance; handles Local & Foreign Recruitments; acts as a bridge between Outsourced Companies & User Section in all activities and also evaluates various positions JDs (Job Description) roles & nature and determines pay level/category. Most importantly, in consequence of COVID-19, he coordinates a team that identifies best alternatives of HR measures that should be taken during this Pandemic time in order to protect the Airline from a massive loss. Besides, in line with this COVID-19 effect, coordinate and supervise a team that conducts companywide Job Audit to determine the appropriate man-power and workable structure per the current work volume. In addition, in response to the Job Audit main findings he has recommended best alternative course of action that has saved employees from being layover and for Ethiopian Airlines loss of key experienced employees and also saved compensation payment which could have been paid had the employees been lay off.
Wondwosen, during his vast time at Internal Audit adapted best in practice Annual Audit Projects identification tools & Audit Program Common Checklist; Coordinated planning of the Section’s Annual Audit Plan; Conducted various scheduled audit at Finance, HR, Commercial, Operation, Project, Johannesburg, Saudi Arabia, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Gode, Arbaminch and others; he also handled unscheduled investigation analysis of fraudulent activities; Check periodically Petty Cash Balance, Account Balance, Financial Statements, etc and provide discrepancy report with recommendation to management to take corrective action accordingly; he ensures Financial Accounts are closed on time, Company’s payroll sheet, utility bills and withholding tax payments are processed accurately and appropriate government tax is deducted correctly and timely submitted to the concerned government body; He Coordinates & leads a project team on Year-End-Closing while Fixed Asset, Inventory and cash on hand is counted and reconciled same with system record and provide discrepancy report with recommendation for management to act accordingly.
