Job Description

OR Nurse Responsibilities are assessing patients, developing and implementing care plans, assisting surgeons, and managing pre – and post-operative care. Key duties involve monitoring vital signs, administering medications, preparing equipment, ensuring a sterile environment, and collaborating with the surgical team.

He/she need to be efficient and attention to detail with a strong knowledge of operation procedures and patient safety. Being compassionate and sensitive is a prerequisite for the profession. The ideal candidate goes one step further by being a critical thinker, fast to act in emergencies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to patients before, during, and after surgery, including assessing health needs and managing conditions.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are ready and functioning.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, physical condition, and reactions to anesthesia and medication.
  • Measure and record patient’s vital signs to identify anomalies.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and care for patients’ wounds.
  • Prepare, decontaminate, and ensure all medical equipment is functioning properly and safely.
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and safe working environment by following strict infection control protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting all actions, observations, and care provided.
  • Work closely with the entire surgical and medical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other nurses, to ensure coordinated care.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families throughout the surgical process.
  • Communicate to the patients and make them ready for the surgery.
  • Assemble all supplies required for the operation.
  • Adhere to safety and health standards and precautions measures.
  • Accept the accountability of keeping the operating room in an orderly condition and sanitized.

Requirments

  • BSc degree in Professional Nurse from recognized University.
  • Have renewed registration and license certificate from regulatory body.
  • Have training certificate related to operation procedures and organizing medical supplies or worked in operation room for 2 years and above and can bring experience letter.
  • Ability to work in a stressful and emotional environment
  • Available to work 12-hour day and night shifts.
  • Demonstrate intense empathy and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a stressful and emotional environment.
  • Knowledge of MS Office.
