Job Description

The Fleet Manager oversees all transportation, fleet, and distribution activities to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely movement of goods. This role manages end-to-end logistics operations, optimizes delivery performance, ensures compliance with regulations, and leads teams responsible for fleet management and distribution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the company’s fleet of vehicles (trucks, vans, etc.) to ensure reliability and availability.
  • Plan preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor fuel usage, vehicle performance, and operating costs.
  • Ensure all vehicles comply with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
  • Manage relationships with vehicle suppliers, maintenance vendors, and leasing companies.
  • Plan and organize daily transport operations to ensure on-time deliveries and collections.
  • Optimize routes to reduce cost and improve delivery efficiency.
  • Monitor driver performance, productivity, and adherence to policies.
  • Maintain transport documentation (delivery notes, trip logs, route plans).
  • Resolve transportation issues such as delays, breakdowns, or delivery discrepancies.
  •  Oversee warehousing dispatch and ensure correct picking, loading, and distribution of goods.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and sales departments for accurate demand fulfillment.
  • Maintain high service levels and manage KPI performance (OTIF, delivery accuracy, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and driver training programs.
  • Prepare reports on logistics performance, fleet utilization, transport costs, and efficiency metrics. · Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Implement distribution strategies to improve cost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  •  Lead, train, and motivate transport coordinators, dispatchers, and drivers.
  • Oversee shift planning, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

Requirement

  • MBA/BA in Business Administration/ Logistic/Supplies Management /Transport Management.
  • Minimum of 6 years for Masters or 8 years for Degree relevant experience.
  • Advantageous if the candidate has a good English skill in addition to Ethiopian Local Languages.
